Saul Kurlat Joins Advisory Board
January 29, 2008
I am pleased to announce that Saul Kurlat has accepted
my invitation to join the Barnett Institute Advisory Board. Saul
is a loyal alumnus of Northeastern University, receiving an MS degree
in Engineering Management in 1962. Currently, he serves on the
Scientific Advisory Board of Northeastern’s Center for Sub-Surface
Imaging and Sensing Systems and is currently Visiting Distinguished
Professor of Engineering Leadership in the College of Engineering.
Saul was asked by President Aoun to advise him how the
life sciences could be strengthened at Northeastern, particularly with
respect to industrial communications. In this capacity, Saul has
spent time with me to understand the activities of the Barnett
Institute. He has attended the past two Advisory Board meetings
and has become a closer advisor.
Saul was the co-founder, CEO and President of Eikonix
Corporation in Bedford Massachusetts from 1968 – 1986. Eikonix
developed electro-optical instruments and seamers for multi-spectral
imaging in high altitude photography, seismographic analysis for oil
and gas exploration and color separation systems for the printing
industry. Eikonix was bought by Eastman Kodak in 1985. Since
that time Saul has been a partner in Kurlat Ventures, an investment
firm for start-up and early stage technology companies.
Saul’s broad industrial experience and his extensive
understanding of Northeastern University will be of great assistance
as the Barnett Institute moves aggressively forward in creating
innovative ties with industry. We welcome Saul to the Advisory
Board and look forward to his many recommendations to strengthen the
Institute.
