Study at the Barnett Institute

The Barnett Institute is internationally recognized as a premier center for advanced training in chemical analysis. The Institute's focus on "real life" applications rewards students for working independently and creatively, motivated by real demand and significant impact for their work. Students are encouraged to develop a broad base of knowledge and keep ahead of trends in the field. They are trained to think analytically and to understand the complexity of biological samples.

Alumni are our proudest achievement. The Institute's entrepreneurial approach and commitment to excellence has trained over 300 students to become leaders in industry and academia worldwide. Many have attained prominent positions, including Presidents and Vice-Presidents of major companies, and heads of academic, industrial, and government departments all over the world. This network of loyal alumni maintain close contact with the Institute, to share emerging opportunities and methods. The Alumni have established an endowed Alumni Graduate Fellowship, awarded each year to an outstanding final year doctoral student.

To apply. Applicants interested in graduate education towards a Ph.D degree will need to formally apply through the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, or another academic department. Postdoctoral scholars typically have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biology or a related discipline. Research scientists generally bring 2 years of post-doctoral or equivalent industrial experience.
